Angel investing, kind of…
So, my little secret is that I have angel-invested in tech startups over the past ten years. I made a few investments immediately after leaving Google Nest, but I wasn’t really trying to plug into the Silicon Valley ecosystem, and then things got busy with family life and other business deals.
I wanted to work on becoming a better angel investor last year, so I met up with my friend Shaherose Charania, who has built startup incubators and is now a Venture Partner at Cake Ventures. Over the past six months, we would meet, discuss startups, and perform diligence while making investment decisions.
While doing this, we often contacted friends and networked with other angels and seed investors to learn from them. And we thought, why not share this more widely and build in public?
